Another Day in London

A Monday... grandkids have scholastic responsibilities... grand daughter granted a maternal day off... a day at the art galleries with Nona... Grand son... his special treatment?.... being taken to school by nonno... poor little fellow still only four but required by the state to attend school... still living at home and going to school is not as bad being sent to boarding school as is often the lot of his English peers... Must be common as the local GP talks about boarding school vaccinations...

Penguin number two sets off with little Hugo towards school... Hugo mounted on his trusty scooter... Penguin number two waddling along in his now characteristic way... school only 500 hundred metres... into the school... scooters everywhere... their owners jostle to find prime parking space in the special scooter parking station... While there are downsides to the absence of off street parking the upside is that the footpath is a safe environment for scooter mounted children... Parents stand with their charges waiting for the offspring's teacher to appear at the entrance to their classroom... Hugo's teacher makes appearance.... the classroom door opens... He disappears...

Return towards home ....watch your step... Dog poo... A little more dog poo... Seems like affluence is no guarantee of respect for shared public spaces..

German influences on the architectural landscape of Burnfoot Avenue apparent.... the long line of attached English dwellings interrupted by an ugly apartment building.... The effects of the bombs live on...

If you can afford to live here then I suppose that you could afford a reasonable car and allow it to languish in the street... My Masarati or my Porshe Carerra would not be treated with such disdain.

Penguin Number One has disappeared .... the galleries of London have called - the particular call of the Courtauld Gallery has been answered - Picasso ... Cezanne ....Van Gogh ... Renoir ... Goya ... Monet ... she is impressed ....

Waddle off to pick Hugo from School ... still amazed at how little these kids are ... they are tiny ... tiny ... tiny .... cannot help that having such little ones in a school environment is behavior that teeters on the edge of cruelty .... four year olds in formal blazers, ties and slacks ... they emerge in a line led by their teacher ... stand in a line ... they look exhausted ... don't move until you are released ... stay still don't move ... ok Hugo you can go.... over he comes ... we take an alternative way home via Sansbury's .... the little fellow wants a treat ... another mini lego figure to add to his rapidly growing collection.
