It is 7:00am.. The din that only grandchildren can make when they are told to be quiet so that Nonno and Nonna can sleep in welcomes the penguins.... Hi fives... Cuddles... Cuddles.. PN2 wonders if the cuddles are a good idea... The penguins don't feel tired any more...
Spring has arrived... T-ball season has started... The kids trike is loaded with little boys.. Off to the park...
Watch the kids watch the turtles... Watch the kids greet their friends... Watch the parents greet the parents... Watch an activity that may or may not bear some form of resemblance to baseball... Watch the concentration of the kids waiver.. Watch those of the parents with coaching responsibilities encourage the kids.. Watch them fetch the kids back from the puddles at the back of the pitch when the tiny little ones suffer concentration failures... Watch them try to convince their charges that it is a team sport and as fielders they should not be trying to knock their Team mates over as they field the ball...
Eventually all semblance of concentration on the part of the tots has dissipated... Another lesson for penguins... Time is up but one of the parent coaches suggests another innings... This is as much about parent meeting parent as it is about the kids...
The trike is loaded up with kids once more.....
The squirrels rule... The outdoor bean bags packed with dried corn kernels laid out neatly on patio.... The squirrels think to themselves.... Why on earth did we spend all last fall storing away nuts for the winter when pre-packaged convenience food is so readily available... The bean bags are torn open... The penguins think them cute... The bags owners think otherwise.... Chase them off.... They retreat to the top of the swing set in the backyard... Patience is a virtue... They will wait until the pesky humans disappear to resume their shoplifting....
It is now... Grandchildren 2.... Nonno O.... Nonno's head starts to ache... Nose starts to run... Cough... Cough.. Those cuddles were indeed a bad idea... To bed... The 24 hours in bed in London to be repeated...

Bugger nonno but I love their mode of transport!!! Reminds me of Japan ,the child cares carted their ones in a bigger cart, strapped to one another!!
